Fishing Rules and Regulations:
A copy of the updated Rules and Regulations is posted in the Boathouse and
on the Interpretation Board, if in doubt on any point, please contact the Bailiff for an explanation.

Float Tubing: Float tubing will continue on the Reservoir until further notice. You are reminded that there must
be at least two people at any one time when float tubing and you must tell the Water Bailiff when you intend to go
afloat. If you are interested in having a trial session, it costs nothing to try and you may be converted! David
Williams has spare float tubes available and is nearly always available for a trial, so give him a ring on 01736
786613 or 07976184109. Those of you who wish to will still be able to purchase a float tubing season ticket (sold
only in conjunction with a full season tickct).

Indicators: Anyone fishing using an indicator must be able to catch fish with the indicator, i.e. with a dry fly or
floating fry.

Catch and Release: Catch and Release will continue and will be allowed after three rainbows or browns have
been taken. The general rules are:

• only barbless or debarbed hooks may be used;

• all fish are to be released into the water;

• only knotless nets may be used;

• no static fishing is allowed, except dry fly;

• bag limits shown below must not be exceeded.

Type of Permit
Rainbow Limits
Brown Limits
Season 9 per week 3 per day
Week 9 per week 3 per day
Day 3 per day 3 per day
Half-Day 2 per half day 2 per half day

Strict adherence to the rules is essential and spot checks will be carried out to ensure compliance with them.

Rudd: Rudd will be taken out of the water as and when deemed necessary and practical, Should anglers catch
any Rudd, they are kindly asked not to return them to the water. If anyone should see any illegal fishing, or
fishermen returning Rudd to the water, it would be appreciated if they could report this to the Bailiff as soon as
conveniently possible in order that action may be taken to protect the fishery and the interests of the sportsmen
who fish the Drift.

Stocking: As usual, the Reservoir will be stocked with rainbow trout before the start of the season. Subsequent
stocking with rainbows will be undertaken as and when circumstances permit but we hope to continue to stock on
a monthly basis. In an effort to improve the gene pool, we are also hoping to repeat the re-stocking of native
brown trout during the season.

Anglers are reminded not to fish on the stock fish nor at the Dam end of the Reservoir for a few days following
stocking. Every effort will be made by the Bailiff to notify fishermen when and where the water has been stocked
and, if necessary, this information can be obtained from him.

Fishing off the Dam is not allowed at any time. In addition, anglers are requested not to fish off the steps of
the Boathouse when the swans are present.

Limits: Anglers’ attention is again drawn to the day limit of three rainbow trout per angler per day, and this must
be strictly adhered to. The weekly bag limit of 9 fish per week applies to seven days and does not mean 9 fish in
any one day. Please also note the limits applying to brown trout.

Access: We continue to make every effort to give access to as many parts of the water as possible and trimming
of the banks will continue. Steps are provided on the far bank of the Reservoir to assist anglers to reach the
water, but these are of course used at the angler’s own risk. Chest waders may be worn but anglers enter the
water at their own risk.

Fishing is not allowed before 8.00 am unless by prior arrangement with the Bailiff. The use of double or treble
hooks is also forbidden, as is static fishing on the bottom of the Reservoir or the use of boobys. This does not of
course apply to dry fly fishing. Active fishing with two rods at a time is also not allowed.

Anglers are reminded that they must ensure that they are in possession of a current NRA Rod Licence before
attempting to purchase tickets or starting to fish.

Please Note: We reserve the right to withdraw ticket privileges from anglers breaking any of these rules.

Dogs: Dogs are not allowed inside the perimeter fence. THIS APPLIES TO FISHERMEN AS WELL AS
RAMBLERS. Signs to this effect have been erected at various points and, should anglers see anyone with a dog
in this area, it would be appreciated if they could point out to them that dogs are not allowed. If any problems
occur, anglers should contact the Bailiff without delay.
