Our Trout

We buy all our stock exclusively, from Exmoor Fisheries. They supply us, along with a number of other top waters around the Country, with hand-selected, premium quality Rainbow and Blue Trout, reared in pristine Spring and Moorland water.

Exmoor Fisheries — quality first

They supply us with hand-selected, premium quality Rainbow and Blue Trout, reared in pristine Spring and Moorland water. Their quality is second to none. All their fish are reared from their own brood stock. As our preferred supplier, we know we can rely on their quality, confident in the knowledge they always supply us with hard-fighting fish in superb condition. After all, you get what you pay for.

Stocking targets

At full membership, we aim to stock at least 6 times throughout the year, to maintain first class fishing, with an annual target of >1,600 Trout (that’s over 25 fish/acre!).

Minimum size policy

You won’t find 1lb stockies nipping at your point fly at Drift, because we don’t stock any. We don’t believe in spending 1000’s of pounds of Club member’s money feeding Cormorants. That’s why our minimum stocking size is 2.8lbs, up to double figures. Many of our stock are in the 3–4lb class.

Hard-fighting fish

Our Rainbows and Blues really are the best that money can buy. Many anglers new to our water find themselves being ‘smashed up’ on their first encounter for not using a heavy enough tippet. Our trout really do hit hard and are keen to take you down to the backing…

Wild Brown Trout

In addition to our stocked fish, there is a healthy head of beautifully marked, hard-fighting wild Brown Trout in the reservoir — all of which must be carefully returned, unharmed.
